There was a tremendously long line for the hay ride, and about a 3 hour wait for the restaurant. Seriously? I bet the food is really delicious, but we were starving and really not in the mood to wait that long.
So we decided to be flexible, and enjoy some country cooking, but at Golden Corral instead. I had never been there before, but it was pretty tasty - and reminded me of Thanksgiving since I had some green bean casserole and sweet potatoes with marshmallows! I even saw one of my students while we were out eating, so it was nice to visit with her and her family for a quick minute.
Then we went to the Onslow County Fair, since it was ending Saturday night. We got a little bit lost, because the Maps application on my iPhone hates me, so we ended up driving all the way by New River unnecessarily.
Nevertheless, we made it to the fair, bought unlimited ride stamps, and got to enjoy lots of fair fun. We got to see some of the blue-ribbon animals (always reminds me of Charlotte's Web)!
We came home to watch the last half of the Gators game. It was a real nail-biter, but we lost in the very last minute to LSU. Which means we have lost 2 games now, but I am okay with that. No team can expect to be the best every single year, especially with a brand spanking new starting quarterback.
Now today, I am hoping to get some cleaning, cooking, and errands done while catching some NFL games as well. October sure is shaping up to be a pretty exciting month!
um I must have passed you like 30 times this weekend. We went to Mikes Farm yesterday and Golden Corral!
