Nothing says man food + football food like Sloppy Joe sandwiches. A few weekends ago, Dustin and I were gearing up for the big Falcons and Bears football games, and invited some friends over to watch the game Saturday night. I called my mom up for her delicious recipe for Sloppy Joes, and I thought it would be a great, simple recipe to share with my blog followers as a yummy, quick meal to whip up during these winter nights when we are all stuck inside!
Mom's Sloppy Joes
Recipe from my mom, Karen Krause
Serves 10, 30 minutes to prepare
Ingredients
1 onion, diced
2 + 1/2 pounds ground beef
2 + 1/2 cups ketchup (1 bottle)
1 sloppy joe seasoning packet
1/4 cup pickle juice
2 Tablespoons mustard
1. In a large pot, brown onion and ground beef together. Drain and rinse beef, and return to pot.
2. Add all other ingredients, stir mixture, and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, to allow flavors to mingle.
3. Serve on a hamburger bun. This tastes especially good when reheated the next day, like we did for a tasty lunch with a dill pickle spear. Yum...wishing we had some more leftovers right about now!
