Easter 2011

Last year was our first married Easter together. We spent it in Jacksonville with our friends Johnny and Rosie, and their little baby girl, Alaaysha. This year, our plans with Dustin's family fell through due to some hiccups thrown our way by the Marine Corps, so we just had a low-key Easter dinner for two!

We got some major spring cleaning done throughout the day: laundry is almost caught up, rearranged some furniture, vacuumed, and even lint rolled all our red chairs and sofas. Then I made a yummy brown sugar spiral ham, some creamy hash brown casserole, and veggies. For dessert, I had whipped up a batch of Oreo Truffles, using some Berry Oreos and ice cream sprinkles to make the dessert a little more festive.

It wasn't a traditional and big Easter like I have always loved, but it was less stress and just nice to have a day alone with my hubby. We are setting some new "spring" resolutions to eat dinner at our dining room table every day (as opposed to the family room, where we have been slumming it for a while).

Today we did some shopping around town, getting our things together for the big Vegas trip (our flight leaves in 36 short hours!). We picked up some last minute hygiene needs, new candles for the house, and some small plastic containers to pack our liquids in, since we refuse to pay and check our luggage!
Hope everyone else had a splendid Easter as well!

  1. Hi,
Just found your blog! I'm a teacher and a new marine wife! Some times low key with just the two of you is way better than you thought it would be. :)
Looking forward to reading more! Hope you have a great week
