Classroom Letter Exchange: Part 1

My class is participating in a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Letter Exchange through Brooke Perry's teacher blog. Each class was assigned a letter and decorated 26 of that letter. Then each class mails the letter out to the other schools participating.

My class finished their letters and decorated them in a patriotic flag theme, since we are in a military town and feel patriotic spirit always within our hearts! The activity was a really good lesson in patterning, spacing, and left to right differentiation. I also wrote a letter and took a picture of our class to send along with our package.

I can't wait to receive all the other letters in the mail. I am thinking of buying a US/Canada map and marking where each letter came from. Then I will hang all the letters, with the map, in our hallway. I am hoping it will not only make a cute display, but also open discussion in our classroom about the different locations we are all from.
