About Me

Welcome to my blog: Colwells in Carolina! Here are 10 things I think every person reading my blog should know about me!

1. I am married to the love of my life! He is a U.S. Marine stationed in North Carolina, and I love that I am here with him after over 6 years of long-distance dating!

2. I am a University of Florida grad and love supporting the Florida Gators! Go orange and blue :) Now if only we could get a Gator Club out in this area...

3. My profession is the best one there is, as I am a kindergarten teacher! I get to spend every day with 20+ energetic, adorable little ones, and get to feel the great reward in knowing that I am changing the future of our planet each day I head to work!

4. I created this blog as a way to keep in contact with family from all over the US (Georgia, Carolinas, Illinois, and Indiana). It has grown from a family blog to a way to reconnect with old friends and make new connections with other military wives. In fact, I met one of my best friends in J-ville through blogging, Nicole from Flip Flops and Combat Boots :)

5. Over the last couple years I have become a cat lover. My husband and I have an adorable tabby/siamese kitty named Bailey, and we think he is just the best pet ever! Last October we adopted another kitty, Colby, and they are best cat buddies!

6. I love trying to be crafty, so I find that Michael's is one of my favorite stores and love putting together cute decorations for our house and during the holidays.

7. I come from a very close-knit family, and always look forward to getting to see my parents and brothers whenever the opportunity presents itself. Over the past year, we have become very spread out between North Carolina, Texas, Georgia, and Illinois! However, we always seem to find a way to get everyone together a few times a year for some quality time!

8. I would love to learn how to take really good photos, because I feel like I am always clicking away with the camera. Photography is one of those things I really appreciate, and wish it was something I could do well.

9. I love to cook and bake. Once the holidays roll around in December, watch out! I have been known to whip up 5 or 6 different kinds of cookies each Christmas. If only I could find the energy to spend more time in the kitchen after working an entire day in the classroom!

10. I love meeting new people! Since we moved here to North Carolina, we have been slowly, but surely, finding people we "click" with, and we are always open to meeting new couples to hang out with. So follow my blog or send me a e-mail :)
