Hurricane Irene: The Sequel

After getting off two hours early from work, I took my 10-minute drive back to our apartment, passing up windows boarded up with plywood. Needless to say, I freaked out! Dustin wasn't able to buy water for us, because, well, he's a guy, and I'm convinced they don't understand how to go to more than one store (love you babe, if you actually read this!). So, when I got home, Dustin and I decided it would be worth the money to preserve our sanity and get out of dodge.

We booked a hotel in Raleigh and hit the road, finally arriving at our destination after around three hours, because of the traffic. Only to find out that hotels.com definitely booked us in a hotel that was already sold out. So THAT was fun! Dustin got on the phone and worked it out, so an hour later we are finally cozy in our great hotel room. I am happy to be watching the hurricane coverage from over 100 miles away, and will be having a fun, spontaneous weekend getaway with my hubby!

We are probably going to hit up our favorite Salvadorian restaurant for lunch tomorrow, maybe do some shopping, and then meet up with my friend Brittany and her boyfriend to watch the Falcons game tomorrow night! I am really hoping there is little to no damage for everyone who stuck it out in Jacksonville, but I definitely think this was the best move for us. I love my electricity and running water!
