Life Is Pretty Good

I have to admit, it feels nice to not have much to complain about lately! I miss Dustin being out of town these last two weeks, but all other aspects of life seem to be going together quite nicely.

It feels so great to have a second year teaching the same grade, at the same school, in the same room. Even though my class size is a little hefty, I have been blessed with some AMAZING children in my room, and even the "handfuls" have been falling into the new classroom routines so nicely. I have added a bunch of cheesy classroom cheers to my classroom, which my kids LOVE, and I have a new clean up signal for my kids: the song "Whistle While You Work". I have them trained now where I can play it pretty quietly, and their five-year-old ears act supersonic and are able to hear the whistling song! It seriously gives me chills to watch how their routines are starting to fall in place like clockwork.

Without my hungry husband around the last couple weeks I have been doing so much better on eating at home and cooking dinner, rather than picking something up after work. I start my coaching/running duty at work next week, so that should be even further motivation to keep eating more healthily.

After some struggles with my stubborn cats, they are finally using the Cat Genie we bought for them. I set it up when Dustin left on his training (using pliers, wrenches, washers, you name it, I used the tool), and now I will never have to change a litter box again! As much as I love our cats, I hate the whole litter box idea. This Cat Genie hooks up to our water line and the drain in our laundry room, and automatically washes and disposes of the, ahem, litter, on an automated schedule. That makes one very happy kitty mommy now that both cats are using it consistently. Although, if cat potty training is any indication of child potty training, I am glad that kids are off the table for a couple years for hubby and I.

Finally, I joined the Junior League in Wilmington last month, and am pretty excited about all the volunteering and social activities filling up my calendar for this fall. With our dues we also received a copy of the Junior League's cookbook that they compile every few years, and I think making some of these mouthwatering recipes will be on my to-do list in the near future!
